TREE REMOVAL

There are many reasons to remove a tree. Obvious reasons may be that the tree is dead or dying, storm damage has occurred, the tree is outgrowing its location, or the tree is interfering with infrastructure. Not so obvious reasons for removal may be disease or pest infestation, overcrowding of trees on the property, or severe unseen structural problems. Our tree care experts specialize in hazardous tree removal and know what to assess when planning the removal of your trees. Our team has over 60 years of combined experience to safely and efficiently remove your problem trees using advanced equipment and techniques that are above the competition.

TREE PRUNING

Pruning is one of the most common tree maintenance procedures. This is because each cut has the potential to change the growth of the tree, and no branch should be removed without a reason. Common professional tree pruning prescriptions are:

CROWN CLEANING

the removal of dead dying or diseased branches and the removal of epicormics (new growth shoots).

CROWN REDUCTION

is the process of removing branch tips, pruning back to a growth point further down the branch. This may be carried out to remove dead, diseased and damaged branches, or simply to reduce the overall size of the tree.

CROWN THINNING

the process of removing selected branches from the crown of the tree to improve the balance and structure of the tree. This process lets more light through the branches and ’lightens’ the tree making it appear less dense. Crown reduction is when limbs from the top portion of the canopy of the tree are cut shorter to reduce the height of the tree.

TREE PRUNING

Pruning is one of the most common tree maintenance procedures. This is because each cut has the potential to change the growth of the tree, and no branch should be removed without a reason. Common professional tree pruning prescriptions are:

CROWN CLEANING

is the removal of dead dying or diseased branches and the removal of epicormics (new growth shoots).

CANOPY RAISING

It is the process of removing the lower limbs of a tree that can block sunlight excessively, interfere with the flow of traffic or inhibit the growth of smaller trees, plants, and bushes.

VISTA PRUNING

is a pruning practice that is performed strictly for view purposes. As this form of pruning can promote rapid growth of weakly attached branches, it is recommended that this practice be performed every 1 to two years depending on growth rate.

CROWN REDUCTION

is the process of removing branch tips, pruning back to a growth point further down the branch. This may be carried out to remove dead, diseased and damaged branches, or simply to reduce the overall size of the tree.

YOUNG TREE TRAINING

is a process of crown cleaning the tree and pruning to promote permanent branch spacing and a dominant leading stem. We prefer to start this process when the tree is young and it is performed every 2 -3 years until the tree has matured. Once matured, we prune every 3-5 years.

FRUIT TREE PRUNING

is cutting of selected parts of a fruit tree to promote fruit production and to allow easy access for the fruit to be picked in future. This consists of a number of horticultural techniques.

CLEARANCE PRUNING
CROWN THINNING

is the process of removing selected branches from the crown of the tree to improve the balance and structure of the tree. This process lets more light through the branches and ’lightens’ the tree making it appear less dense. Crown reduction is when limbs from the top portion of the canopy of the tree are cut shorter to reduce the height of the tree.

BRANCH END WEIGHT REDUCTION

is performed to minimize branch failure and to shorten the length of branches in general for clearance, as well as to help minimize branch failure from heavy snow loads. This is commonly recommended on fir, hemlock, and pine trees.

RESTORATION PRUNING

is performed to retain a tree that has been poorly pruned or topped previously or that has suffered previous stem failure from possible storm damage. The intent is to promote good future structure with a dominant leading stem.

is pruning performed to provide clearance away infrastructure (to minimize pests and rodents from accessing buildings, etc.) and for pedestrian and vehicle clearance.

UTILITY SERVICES

We provide certified utility arborists with up-to-date tested aerial lift trucks to complete any tree pruning or removals around powerlines. We are also a BC Hydro certified contractor.

STUMP GRINDING

It’s always wise to remove new and old stumps as they can provide optimal places for pests and insects to infest and make new homes in. We have the proper machinery to grind the stumps in your front yard, backyard, or even building rooftops. Our stump grinders are more efficient and provide low impact when removing stumps rather than hand digging or using large machinery.

CONSULTING

We provide professional and thorough arborist reports of tree risk assessments for permit applications, and development proposals. If you have a large tree on your property and want to ensure that it possesses no danger, an arborist report can detail all the risks and plan a possible course of action. If you want to remove a tree, an arborist report is often required to meet city by-laws and many other municipalities, to obtain a tree removal permit. Additionally, we consult and attend strata meetings and act as professional witnesses for court-related circumstances.

HEDGE TRIMMING AND REMOVAL

Our arborists use top of the line equipment to provide the desired tight and straight lines while trimming hedges or shrubs. We also provide special topiary trimming, which is the trimming of bushes into specified shapes, and even animal designs!

DEEP ROOT FERTILIZING

Much like humans, trees also need their vitamins to help defend against disease and pest infestations. Unfortunately, many of us in the urban community clean up fallen leaves and debris to keep our garden areas tidy, however, this reduces the introduction of healthy organic materials into the soil that our trees need to thrive. Deep root fertilization is an immediate way to administer nutrients back into the soil of root systems. We inject our special blend of liquid fertilizer throughout the soil of the critical root zone. At the same time, this process aerates and introduces much needed oxygen into the soil.

CABLE AND BRACING

We offer expert cabling and bracing services which provides added structural support for weaknesses in trees. Cabling and/or bracing can help with the following: visible leaning, cracked, broken, or sagging branches, splits in the trunk or branches, extreme swaying during high winds, and stabilization of the truck and/or limbs during heavy snow and ice build-up.

TREE PLANTING/TRANSPLANTING

We work with our clients to help determine the proper tree and/or shrubs that will thrive in their landscape while factoring in local climate and soil conditions, and long term property goals. We also transplant existing trees so that they can continue to thrive for many years in their new location.

LAND CLEARING

We provide excavators, bin trucks, brush mowing, and certified tree fallers for all your land clearing needs.

24-HOUR EMERGENCY TREE SERVICES

Sudden storms in BC can cause serious damage to property by falling debris or from damaged and fallen trees. We provide 24-hour emergency services due to storm damage. Hazard tree removals.

ANIMAL RESCUE

Unfortunately it happens - our beloved pets adventure into trees without thinking how they’re going to get down. If this happens to your pet, give us a call. We are always here to help rescue!
